Devotional: Evidence of Faith

JAMES 2: 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

I do not submit to the “theology” that every Christian is owed a Cadillac, bi-monthly mani-pedis or a thick juicy steak with a slice of dessert from Cheesecake Factory! What we DESERVE is death and hell. Without the shed blood of Jesus Christ, that would have been the plight of all mankind.

Since the Holy Spirit guides and convicts us, how is it that people like certain talk show host, not claiming to be a Believer, give away cars, homes, college educations and so many wonderful, generous gifts while “Joe”, a professed Christian, young, single and in good health, refuses to help at all with church clean-up projects?

I can see that from Hollywood, the agenda or motivation for doing something “humanitarian” can lead to praise and self-promotion, but what about “Joe”? Maybe he goes to a Bible study group, eats breakfast with the men once a month, but outside of that, there is no giving of himself for others. He does not utilize his resources, good health, time, abilities, for God’s glory. He is hoarding what he has been given for… who, what, when, where and how?

“Joe”, if you are waiting for a time to be useful in the lives of others, don’t sit on your rump waiting for opportunity to come to your door. Did Jesus just sit around and WAIT for people to come to Him to be blessed (although they did that, too), no, He went from town to town, ministering out of love and compassion to those who were in need.

HOLY and Merciful God

Please use each one of these men for his created purpose

We ask that You will show them Your intention for their lives

Open their hearts, minds and ears to hear Your calling

Please widen their eyes to see around them, the needs they may help fill though Your power and strength

We ask that You will give them a willingness and ability

We know, Father, if You open doors

You also will give them boldness, strength and perseverance to abide in Your will

You are there ready to lead for those who will follow

Thank You for health of our husbands

Thank You for healing

We bring praise for a sound mind. a strong body and an obedient spirit

In the Name of Jesus,

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
