DEVOTIONAL
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
When my kids were young and went through that fabulous “w h a t e v e r” stage I love so dearly, they had to say the above Scripture with it . It was two-fold, to work on bad attitudes and taught the Word.
Now whenever I start regressing to my teenage years (not in a good way), and want to say “whatever” myself, I find that I start saying the verse (typically adjusting the attitude in the meanwhile). I can only hope that it impacted my kids and their memorization of it, but hey, at least it did for me!
Today, think about what these things the Lord is asking us to consider in this Scripture. How does your train of thought line up with the Word? Needing an attitude adjustment? (Rhetorical).
Saying, “I can’t help it, I just dropped in on Pintierst for a few minutes, but it turned into hours,” doesn’t cut it, neither does watching marathon tv or calling to share a “prayer request” that turns into a 45 minute complaining session about someone else! Want to know what the Lord comes back with in those instances with me, typically?.. Yeah, well, I’ll tell you anyway,
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
AND
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Afterward, I believe to have some insight as to how Job felt Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer Thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth (Job 40:4)
PRAYER
Most High and Precious Lord
Thank You for a sound mind
May we use it wisely
We know that You do not ask us what
We are not given the capability to do
Lord, we ask that You will bring to mind when we are wasting time on thoughts
That are not honoring to You
We are prone to wander, Father
We start by a though and before we realize it
Something has consumed us
Please deliver us from whatever or whomever
Distracts our attention from You
Let Your likeness, please
Prevail in our lives so much
Dwell in us to the point anyone knowing us could say,
“I know Who YOUR Daddy is, you act just like Him”
Indeed, for others to recognize You in us, we must walk, talk, live and love as You do
We must study and obey, follow and focus
All with the intention of knowing You more
With minds, hearts and heads filled by the world
It is impossible to make room for righteousness
You, O Lord
Do not share the spotlight
You are the Everlasting Lord
In the Name of Jesus Christ
AMEN
SONGS
Everlasting God
Agnus Dei
Give Me Jesus
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
I hope and pray this devotional has been uplifting to you. The Lord is so merciful. At times when you think, what is ONE “good” thing? Days you struggle just to come up with ANYTHING “good”, JESUS. Just think about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is NOTHING better to have our minds fixed on than Him!
