Devotional: Thy Word

Devotional

Psalm 119:105 Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a Light unto my path.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

What did the people do before Scripture was printed and available to the “common man”? How would your life be different if you were not permitted to have your own copy of the Word?
Now with individuals having the Word on the cell phone, tablet, laptop, not to mention, in print, it is difficult often times NOT to take our access for granted.

Take a look around, there may very well come a day when there is not the freedom to own a Bible. Now at many work places, it is either highly restricted or banned altogether, for the sake of “coexistence”. Yes, others (non-Christians) want to “co-exist”, so we are stripped of our rights in order to accommodate those who find Christianity “offensive” or “judgmental”.

Psalm 119:11 says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
Only God knows if His children will see a day when liberties in (now) the United States, to own a Bible, is considered a crime or speaking the Name of Christ will be punishable by death.

Are you ready? Are you willing to proclaim the same faith in Christ you do among your brothers and sisters in Christ on Sunday if you or your children faced a firing squad, demanding you to renounce your Lord?

If it came down to it, would we be able to call to memory, verses to talk to an unbeliever about Christ? Have we studied Scripture enough to accurately pass on to future generations? Do we walk closely enough with the Savior to have His Gift of the Holy Spirit guide us into teaching the Word without manipulating or heavily paraphrasing? What about the gift of discernment? We must know the Truth to realize when we are being taught or told a lie.

Prayer

Author and Perfector
Thank You for the absoluteness of Truth

Thank You for the certainty of Your Word
We can count on You

You are the same, yesterday, today and always
Praise Your Holy Name
You are unchanging!

You Word is a lamp unto our feet
You light our paths for as far as we need to see
We do not need to rush ahead, lest we stumble in the darkness
Neither should we lag behind in our past
Father, You hold on to us
So we can keep in step with You
Abide in You and
You in us

In John 15:4-5, Lord, You say, ” Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me.”

When we know You, we know the Word
Likewise, by studying the Scriptures, we better know You.

In the Name of Jesus
We ask for godly
Wisdom
Discernment
Willingness to forgive
Determination to grow, follow and obey Your will

Amen

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
