Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though Thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of Thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be Ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Stars, Angels and Glittery Dads
Tonight we had the Christmas program at our church. It was so wonderful to see all the little children who worked so hard for the past weeks, come together for a sweet program, in remembrance of that special night in Bethlehem.
There were little shepherds and wise men, dressed in their neat costumes. The sweet Baby Jesus , who thankfully was portrayed by a doll, as our Joseph, as cute as ever, handed “Jesus” to Mary they way anyone would expect a boy to handle a doll.. (A bit like , “Here, you take it, I’m a boy”) .
The youth and young adults sang and also performed one piece of music in sign language, which was touching. Then there were the “angels” and twinkling “stars”!
Oh my , how precious these darling babies were! How sincere their hearts were to do their absolute best!
After the performance there was a meal and everyone went through the lines, filling plates with tremendous home-cooked and pre-prepared foods! It was fabulous!
What got to me most was seeing the little girls with their dads! With one hand, daddy would try to manage his plate; meanwhile, trying to keep them from spilling theirs on the floor, all while managing to get a drink for both of them. It was quite impressive and touching!
You should have seen the glitter on some of the dad’s pants! What a sight! You know what though, they did not even care! They were with their little girl , serving them, caring for them and that is all that mattered!
In our verse from Micah, we can see how this tiny place, insignificant probably to anyone not from there, was the very one the Lord chose to bring forth the King of kings.
Let us understand that the Father is GREAT and He does not need to use the most powerful, the strongest, the biggest to bring forth glory to His Name.
Like Bethlehem, tonight the Father brought glory to His Name, by using a little church in a small town, through children and young adults.
Prayer
Abba, Father
We bring praise to You for the children who worked so hard to learn the lines and songs, where to go and following directions
Thank You for those who gave of their time and talents to teach them the words and movements
To work with them
And now may they get sweet rest and relaxation with a job well done
Your Name indeed was magnified, Father
May all the little children’s programs everywhere have the same touching performances as the one tonight
It is an honor to recollect the coming of the Christ Child
As we remember the events of the night of Jesus’ birth
Let us be filled with awe and appreciation
All praise
Glory
And Honor to Our King!
In the Name of Jesus,
AMEN
