Friday Dec 19th
Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now can you put yourself in Joseph’s shoes, I cannot! Throughout Scriptures, Mary is very highly esteemed, and rightfully so, but just look at the responsibility Joseph assumed!
Is there anything God is asking or leading you to do that may bear some reluctance on your part? Too difficult, too far out of your “comfort zone”, you say? Try reading these verses again (and again). God is NOT overly concerned with our “comfort”, but with our growth and obedience!
Thank You for the beautiful day You allowed us
For every breath You give
Let our hearts be thankful and rejoice
Please hear our prayers as we return back to You

Luke 2:49 And He said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about My Father’s business?
50 And they understood not the saying which He spake unto them.
On some levels, these passages distressed me for a long while. I thought I read disrespect for Joseph and Mary in the way Jesus responded to them.
It was through the teaching of the Holy Spirit, my misunderstanding was revealed to me. I came to realize that Jesus indeed WAS being obedient and respectful to HIS Father.
As Scriptures point out, His earthly parents did not understand what it is He was saying to them. Their comprehension was finite; even at the most intellectual level when it comes to matters of the Lord and His ways.
Today, I can just see writers, publishers and movie producers approaching Mary and Joseph, attempting to capitalize on what the experience was like raising Jesus. (One MORE way it makes sense that Christ was not born in our moment in time)!
Thank You for this day You have given us
Please reveal to our hearts
The many blessings we have
We give thanks for our parents
If they were godly
We give You praise for that
If they were not, O God
There is a reason
We were put where we were
When we were
You gave us into the family You intended
For everyone You gave purpose
Please let us accept the life You allow us
Whether we live in situations as a result of our own consequences
Or that of others
Father, let us grow and depend upon You
We know, Lord that You love us
That You do not act out of emotion
You ALONE are Holy
Your Providence is Divine
Whatever circumstances brought us to where we are
Father, You were not surprised
You know the beginning to the end
You ARE the
Alpha and Omega
We are told in Deuteronomy and throughout Your Word
To obey our parents
We bow our hearts in obedience to our Father in Heaven
You promise with obedience comes a prolonged life
What could be more so than Eternity with You!
In the Name of Jesus
Who was obedient to death, even death on a cross,
Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Have you seen any tv shows or movies with an unattractive Jesus? I mean someone you just can’t hardly stand to watch the entire thing because the actor just is not anyone you want to look at for the duration of the show?
It’s easy to think of a precious little Baby Jesus, all wrapped up in a blankie with Joseph and Mary right there, the entire Nativity all sweet and serene, then grow Him a few years and mentally, you must draw some kind of picture of Him.
For one thing, the actors are very often Caucasian! If we are going accurately, the casting crew already goofed;never mind that He typically only speaks English in many of these shows.
The Word clearly foretells that physically, Jesus was not the dashing Man Hollywood portrays, quite the contrary. So those bleached smiles and spray on tans, let’s just leave it to a heavy dose of “ARTISTIC LICENSE”.. the end!

Luke 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
The likelihood that the Lord will send an angel to physically appear or speak audibly to us, well, I would say is not so much; but I am not God, so if He so chooses, it will come to pass! I cannot imagine it was anything Mary ever expected either, is all I am saying!
When the Lord puts something on your heart, shows you something in Scripture, opens doors, whatever it may be, ask Him to make things clear to you, to reveal that it is His will and indeed and opportunity He is presenting, then OBEY! An open door is just that until you step over that threshold, THEN it becomes obedience!
How DOES one discern the voice of the Lord? Well, I can’t say that I do not struggle with that many times, and no telling how often I have missed out on things waiting for “sign” after “sign”! Just a little more affirmation and I am on it! Okay, time and chances do pass us by and while we are trying to decide what is “best”, we may have unintentionally chosen to disregarded God’s direction.
This is where we need to be so in tune with Him that we are going to hone in better when the Holy Spirit prompts us to move. We must study the Word and stay in constant communication so we are more likely to pick up on what it is He is leading us to do (or not)!
Before caller id, do you think we would have needed that to recognize the sound of a familiar voice of a parent or one of our children on the other end, highly doubtful! So let’s ask Him to draw us ever closer to our Savior so we will KNOW His voice when we hear it! When the Shepherd calls, let’s not have that perplexed look on our face, furrow our brow and wonder “Who IS this?”.
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

**Below is a carol sung on the “Lawrence Welk Show”. When I saw this, I couldn’t help but make it a part of this Christmas celebration.
I remember every weekend watching the programs with my mom. He passed away at 50 and she so deeply loved my father that the two of us sat there while she, through tears and a precious smile, hummed and swayed her little head back and forth to the music every time, years after Daddy went to be with the Lord.
What precious memories! I pray that kind of love in each marriage represented here! B
