Devotional: Darkness Cannot Conceal What Light Chooses To Reveal

John 8:12-30
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the Light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.

Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Tonight I have a few thoughts I want to toss into our buggy as we stroll together through the aisles of consideration of God’s Word.

I found a lamp today at a thrift store I frequent, which sent me to these particular verses. Candles, fireplaces and lamplight, to me, seem much more subdued and calming than an obnoxiously bright overhead light.

It is amazing what pure light exposes. Let’s take for example, the day I was trying to determine if my socks were the same or if I had one black and one blue. No matter what artificial means I used, it was not until I put the socks together in the natural sunlight that I could tell I was nowhere close to matching them!

In darkness, things can fool us! Something can look, smell, taste, sound or feel the same, but with light comes clarity!

Jesus Christ is that for us. He is the Weight and Measure for all things! Deception cloaks itself as Truth. The only way to remain aware, is by knowing what the Lord says and holding everything you know up to whatever you’re trying to be convinced to believe; If not, you’ll end up with much worse than miss-matched socks as a consequence!

Now, sisters, with the Holy Spirit, we have been ignited to reflect the Light of Christ to a hopeless and lost world. We are not THE LIGHT, but Ambassadors for Him!

Shine brightly!

Light doesn’t just invade darkness, it eradicates it!!

Precious Heavenly Lord
Thank You for this and each day You have given us

Lord, this world is a dark place
We are weary, but in and through You, are NOT afraid!

Father, we want to stay in the Light of Your Word
Please teach, convict, admonish and encourage each one of us

May we not hesitate to go to a brother or sister in You
If we see them entangled in a sin
And remind them of Your direction
In love

Lord, if they do not back away from whatever it is they are doing
Let us take the steps You have provided for us in Your Word

Almighty King, Sweet Jesus stood there, accused, declaring Himself
And Holy One, He was put to death for declaring the truth

For our sakes, He stands as our Great Defender
Shining His light on the accusations of the evil one against us

Thank You for the life of Jesus Christ
For the tremendous word pictures painted throughout Scripture

Thank You for offering light
To keep us from stumbling around in darkness.

Please let us listen to You
As You instruct us to stay on the lighted path You have set forth
And not to stray onto other roads
Filled with traps strewn about by the wicked one
To ensnare us

We are free, O God
And walking in the Light!
Praise be to Jesus

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
