Devotional: Calenders, Erasers And A Reminder-God Doesn’t NEED A “Plan ‘B'”

Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.

Tonight we were suppose to have our monthly small group meal and devotional. My friends prepared parts of the meal and I spent this week attempting to get my house in order.

This morning it started sleeting but it seemed to ease up a bit so I assumed all would be fine. I had sent out an e mail earlier as a reminder of our meeting, welcoming anyone able to come, regardless of weather because we were going to be home anyway.

About 1 O’clock, I noticed the child next door was outside. I asked and his mom told me that school was released early which did not seem as though it would bode well for the
6 p.m. event.

I continuously checked to see if anyone had called or sent text, saying they couldn’t make it. Little by little, the plans started changing. Weather patterns were uncertain and potentially hazardous road conditions were developing quickly.

My husband and I were reluctant to cancel too hastily because neither one of us wanted to over-react, especially only being the second meeting and knowing our friends had already made or purchased their contribution to the meal. I was in agreement with him to welcome anyone was able to come and offer an alternative date to the others. We did not have to get out, so we certainly did not want our guests to take unnecessary risks.

One couple was able to join us, so they brought what they made, we put together a nice Mexican meal and enjoyed wonderful fellowship.

The new plan is to meet Sunday instead, Lord willing! Although our initial plans did not work as we expected, the Lord blessed our time together. We were reminded that God does not operate on our agenda, but His timing is perfect and He is in control! Praise Him!

O Merciful and Holy God
Thanks for Your perfect will
For Your timing
Your plans are flawless, O God

Although we may not understand why certain things do not work out how we intended
Even a gathering of Your children
You, O Lord have a reason and purpose in all You do

From the most complex to the miniscule details
Your hand is on everything in our lives
We give praise and glory to Your power to rearrange plans
And reminders that You Alone are God!
Awesome, Wonderful, Mighty
The Great I AM!

Thank You for this day, for this night
For time with friends
For safety and wisdom
Protection and guidance

If it be Your will, please bring our group together Sunday
And give us opportunity to lift up Your Name

Through the Blood of Jesus we pray,

“We Gather Together”

“Our God Is An Awesome God”

The verses and lessons found within the Word of God
Love, support and encouragement from family and friends
Stories and experiences of friends and ability to use them for purposes of these devotionals

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
