DEVOTIONAL: Accept Who You Are By Acknowledging Who God Is

JOB 40:1 Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said,
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

3 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,

4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

Have you ever questioned God, asking Him what He was doing or why? How I would love to say I never fit into that category, many more times than I want to admit.

In this Book, the Lord speaks to Job, reminding him of Who He Is. I am amazed and really would like to learn the discipline Job exercised after that. Job SHUT HIS MOUTH!

Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto Me.

8 Wilt thou also disannul My judgment? wilt thou condemn Me, that thou mayest be righteous?

9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like Him?

10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

Just when I think it would be awesome to hear the Voice of the Lord, I am thankful to READ about Job’s interaction here than experience this for myself! I do not trust that I would actively engage the sense He has given me to cease and desist! I praise God for the blessing of the Holy Spirit He has given to us. Please, God, keep our hearts and spirits open to hear the Voice of Conviction. May we hear, understand and obey our Father.

The Lord is loving, kind and just, He also is The God to be worshipped and feared. He ushers us into a place of obedience with a perfect balance of gentleness and firmness. It is the wise heart who holds the Almighty Lord in reverence. By His grace we come to know Him and through Him we are able to trust and obey His will. HE ISTHE PERFECT PARENT. He holds us responsible for our actions, loves us unconditionally (HALLELUJAH!), protects and provides for our needs.

Our blessings are so numerous, until the end of our days we could not accurately count each one. Let’s take to heart Who He Is, the Creator, Master and Lord and hold ever fast the comparison to who we are, His creation and children of the Most High. When our hearts again tempt our mouths to ask those questions “What, Why, How, When, Where”, signs of doubt, let’s keep in mind the answers God gave to Job, quickly confess our doubt, accept, recognize and praise Him for being Lord of All, THE GREAT I AM!

PRAYER

Our Wonderful Father God

Thank You for Who You Are

Please let us stay amazed at Your POWER

Respect Your Authority

Acknowledge Your Majesty as King of kings

And Lord of lords

Please forgive us when we question You

When our limited sight fails to see, understand or remember

That You know the beginning to the end

And that You are in control of all things

Although we experience difficulties or we witness

Things that do not make sense to us

Please allow us to bring forth the faith You so richly deserve

You have plans for us, O God

Our spirits know that You have no intention of bringing us harm, we are Your children

Yet the heart is wicked and it can deceive and be deceived

It convinces us that we are foolish to trust in anything but ourselves and what we are able to control

Please let us take Your Hand, Father, in those moments when our faith starts to weaken

And strengthen us, renew us

Our assurance is in You and You Alone

We are Your people and You Alone Are our God!

In the Name of Jesus,

AMEN

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
