I know one friend in our devotion circle planned on getting a door hung today. When she got home yesterday, her husband had already done it, needless to say, she was tickled! Quoting an old English proverb,
“Good men are hard to find”. O’Connor, Flannery; Asals, Frederick (1844). A good man is hard to find. Littell, Son and Co.. p. 252. B. I am so thankful she has one of them! If the Lord has blessed you with a good man, take time to thank Him for your rare and precious jewel!
Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage and He shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.
The ages men and women are getting married now seems to have gotten older as years passed .
In days gone by, education was not a factor as it is today, and for women, pursuit of careers definitely was not a concern.
As our girls are getting out of school and into the workforce, marriage seems to have lessened in priority. It appears through trends, not only the young men want to get established in a career before committing to marriage.
What any Christian parent hopes for each of their children is a godly mate. There are a myriad of factors playing into a decision for a partner.
This is an example of someone who did not wait on God’s man and lives every day with the consequences of that decision.
There was a young girl, a high school graduate who went to college but was not mature enough at the time to handle being on her own. She did not study or apply herself and ended up back at home where she worked at various jobs and ended up at one where she met her soon-to-be husband.
She was a Believer as a child and committed herself to purity. She never dated in school, nor when she went away, so there was not a tremendous amount of pressure, although occasional temptations.
When she and this fellow, who claimed to be a Christian, started dating, it was not long before they became engaged and she found herself where she vowed never to be, in a compromising situation.
The enemy was all too aware of her situation. “You’re engaged, so you’re only going to be with him anyway”, he whispered to her.
Years of regret fill her heart to this day as she committed to that man, not out of God’s will, but a sense of obligation. In her heart and mind, she had no choice after giving herself to him before marriage.
Fearing she would be alone and not trusting the Lord to bring a godly man into her life, she jumped ahead of God and lives with the daily with the results of that decision.
Although she cannot know his heart and the fruits of his walk with Christ are unclear, her husband is good to her; however, years have been littered with many devastating relational issues, leaving her emotionally, physically and spiritually lonely.
The Lord has taken her to the pinnacle of desperation and that is where He has worked on her heart and the relationship she has with Him.
In the absence of her husband’s affection and attention, she struggled with her faith. Much time has been spent in counseling. There has been extensive prayer with counselors, pastors and friends, not to mention night after night, crying out to God, moaning for the Holy Spirit to translate her pain.
In her lowest moments, she has prayed to the Father to take her Home, yet she finds herself confined and confused by what the Lord is directing her to do or where He wants to take her.
Let’s intercede for these young men and women! May we stand in the gap for their temptation to abandon purity. If the Lord is going to bring a mate, please let us pray that they will be patient and wait on Him!
We know that God’s men and women are not “perfect”, but I do believe that waiting for His person will bless a relationship exceedingly!
Our Father can work miracles, there is no doubt in that! So when things look bleak in relationships, NEVER STOP PRAYING! God constantly shows us that we can only believe and trust in Him! Humans will disappoint. Others will let us down and we will do likewise.
When we walk closely with Him, pray and stay in His Word, we will better be able to hear and understand what He is telling us, then we must choose to obey!
For those sisters and brothers who are not in a relationship with a godly spouse, let’s pray that the Lord will remarkably heal and restore damaged marriages and draw that unbelieving spouse into a relationship with Him. All glory to the Father Who is able to work miracles.
May He show Himself in ways that we can say “Only the Lord could have done such greatness!”
Thank You for those men and women of God
You have waiting for one another
Lord, please make it clear to those who desire to be married
To hold on for Your person, if You have indeed created a mate for them
Going on our own, Father, is where we get involved in situations bringing heartache and misery
There is great reward in obeying You, Lord
Father, we know there is forgiveness for disobedience, although we are not necessarily rescued from consequences of our choices
Your will be done, Holy God
On Earth as it is in Heaven
In the Name of Jesus our King,
“While I’m Waiting”
