Psalm 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Can you remember the dirtiest you have ever been? I know many of those times would be leaving the beach. As much fun as it is being there, sand finds itself everywhere! Sometimes it can take just shy of a pressure washer head-to-toe to get un-sandy-fied!
The other day I stayed at the gym a long time working on my triathlon and in between I did some weight training and even spent a few minutes in the tanning bed, trying to prepare myself for a possible trip to yes, the beach!
By the time I got home, I refused to even sit on the couch. I banned myself from any of the furniture until I bathed! I was a stinky mess! One of my friends is highly offended by even the concept of a bath! She is a shower girl all the way, that night I agreed. There was no way in the world I was going to sit in my own filth!
Once I shampooed and conditioned my hair and washed myself, it was GREAT! I felt refreshed and lighter. I had no idea how much weight dirt carries! It was then an idea for a devotional popped into that freshly washed noggin of mine! Praise God for lessons He gives everywhere. He provides teachable moments as little nuggets all over the place, even in the shower with shampoo, conditioner and body wash!
If such tangible things can clean us, imagine the power of our Savior’s Blood! The Father cannot look on us in our filthy, sinful state. Without Christ, we are unpresentable to Father God. Thanks only to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, can we stand clean before Him.
PRAYER
Our Beautiful Savior and King
Thank You for this glorious day
We give You praise for the Son
Who gave up His life
To rescue us from eternity in Hell
Father God
We know that the shedding of Jesus blood
Is the Only Way we will be able to stand before You one day in Glory
We cannot understand the agony
You endured, not being able to even look upon Your Son
As He carried the weight of our sins on the cross
What triumph and celebration must have been in the Heaven when He returned Home to You!
Lord, we cannot know what majesty awaits us when we arrive There one day
For those who have gone on before us, what an unimaginable time that must be to close their eyes to this fallen world and wake up in Your presence
Only by Your grace
For wooing us into a relationship with You
Through the work of the Holy Spirit
Giving us hope and a saving faith in Jesus Christ
Knowing, believing and proclaiming that only in and through Him
Are we redeemed
Father, Your Son’s death was so gruesome
Yet in Your wisdom, it was necessary
We cannot fathom the Cost
The Sacrifice You Made
It was the Highest Price Heaven could afford
And to be spent on the likes of us!
Hail, King Jesus!
Praise for Your obedience to come to earth, live among us as all God and all man
Suffer unto death, even death on a cross
But O, our Merciful and Powerful Savior
That third day, when the women arrived at the tomb
They were told that Jesus was not there
He had RISEN! HALLELUJIAH, WHAT A SAVIOR!
AMEN!
