Proverbs 6:16-19
16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
My friends, the Lord does not dislike these things, our Loving and Just Savior H A T E S them.
Let us in no way, manner or fashion, participate in or have a thing to do with any of the above!
Let us pray for understanding and conviction. Upon understanding and recognition of such, should these appear in our lives; let’s commit that we will immediately cease and desist, repent sincerely and promptly, separate ourselves from it and maintain distance to avoid entanglement with things so contrary and displeasing to the Father.
My mom was so precious and soft-spoken ,so humble, that many times as I got older and observed her in the role of a servant, I noticed that many people did not treat her with the respect I know she so clearly deserved
She worked around some snooty people and they always seemed to look right over or through her. I noticed this when I was young, but did not know how exactly to identify it. The older I got, the more it started to infuriate me.
At one point she worked as a teacher’s aide in a pre-school and it seemed as if, even though the teachers showed a smidgen of respect, they still did not treat her exactly as their “equal”.
I wanted to tell everyone who treated her as sub-standard, how brilliant she was and that she was only working to keep active after my dad passed! Because of her careful management of finances and investments she could have retired and could have been anywhere, but settled on daycare because she loved children, not because she couldn’t do anything else. Even if that was all she could have done, she still deserved so much better. Finally she DID resign and retire from her duties and traveled all over the place, even going on a mission trip to Russia in her 70’s!
You know what, she taught me so much about humility and that it wasn’t about the servant but the service! O what a blessing from God she was!
The most annoyed I got was when she was called to babysit and she came home and told me that the little girl insisted Mom engage because, the little girl added, “My mom PAYS you to play with me!” That was not something that child came up with on her own! How DARE anyone, much less a child, speak to my mother that way!
For me, it is much harder to see someone (especially my Mom!) BE disrespected than to experience it personally. Regardless of the individual, life is precious and not one has any more value than another.
Does a couple who has unprotected sex have more worth and rights to live than their unborn child? Is that not exhibiting a view of superiority? One life is sacrificed for another? Yes, Jesus loves and forgives. He is merciful and full of grace for those who may have made unfortunate decisions. Pro choice? What “choice” did that child have? I am now jumping off the soapbox before it overflows with bubbles of opinion, theory and fact, to make this even longer than it already is!
Matthew 5:45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. I totally see why our Lord takes such a strong stand to the point of hatred here. A “proud look” is so unbecoming!
Imagine those judgmental gazes cast Jesus’ way as He hung upon the cross! They were rulers and soldiers, educated and religious men. Jesus, well, He was just a poor carpenter’s son, right? Rather than glaring back, boasting about what would happen, just watch and wait, He looked upon the crowd and ASKED the Father to forgive them!
Prayer
Our Precious Lord and Savior
Those Who physically put You on the cross
Indeed had no idea of Who You Are
King of kings and Lord of lords
Praise and honor be to You!
Father, please let our hearts and spirit be convicted
When we become prideful
Let us boast at nothing but You, O God
Our Lord and Savior Who Alone
Is able to rescue us from Hell
And Alone brings us eternal life
In the Name of Jesus,
Amen
