1 Corinthians 6:19-2019 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
The past two weeks, my son Charles has been working with me on a healthier lifestyle with dietary changes and an exercise plan.
Change is not always easy, but it often finds it’s motivation in necessity. My son is trying to keep me in good health as I close in on the big 49! Although for my best, my attitude could not be any worse about this whole “changing” ordeal!
The saying “just enough to be dangerous” applies here! He is studying physical therapy, so last semester he took nutrition courses and now I have a 22 year-old who has learned what he needed to know about the problems with the food choices I often make. Not only have I had a live in drill sergeant for two weeks making sure I work out, he has put me on lock down so I can’t eat after 10 pm (which was formerly my movie and snack time). Apparently eating gives me energy which in turn keeps me from going to sleep at a decent hour. Now I get to pile up on the couch while I drink water! ugh!
If that’s not enough, he has a gym schedule and has walked me around the block at 10:30 at night to get my cardio in for the day, two or tree times at least since he’s been home. It is about time for the summer semester to start and now I am going to have to keep this routine on my own! I may complain, okay, I DO complain, but I have loved having him here with us and wouldn’t have changed a thing for the help he’s given me and just getting to spend time with him.
Our Lord has given us a body to care for and it is our responsibility to do all we can to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I encourage each one of you, if not already, to take good care of yourselves, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
PRAYER
DEAR HEAVENY FATHER
Thank You for all You do for us
We just ask for Your strength, wisdom and guidance
As we work to maintain a healthy lifestyle
We give You praise for the delicious foods
Purifying waters
For energy to exercise
And sweet rest
All praise and glory to You, our God
For the body You have given us
May we treat it well
Please give us perseverance and determination
To do what pleases You for this vessel You’ve blessed us with, Father
Be praised for the Truth of Your Beautiful Word
According to Psalm 139:14,
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
In the Name of Jesus our Lord and Savior
AMEN
