DEVOTIONAL: Our Lives Are An Opportunity To Proclaim God’s Greatness

2 Corinthians 4:12-1812 So then death worketh in us, but life in You.

13 We having the same Spirit of Faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

14 Knowing that He which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal

Well, as usual, the Lord says what needs to be told in such a concise and perfect way, doesn’t He!  I mentioned yesterday about the many people who have left this earth lately for a better life, an eternal one.

It is absolutely much more difficult on the ones left behind than those who are in the presence or are on the verge  of being with our Savior.  Although it is not easy looking at the frail bodies, I believe we can take some comfort in how our Precious Lord must encourage the spirits of those headed His way.

Any chance I get to share memories and honor my mom, you know I do!  What a precious angel. I thank God that until the last month of her life, she enjoyed her health, outside of diabetes and some forgetfulness. She never complained about anything! Glory to God again and again for the privilege to call than that darling little woman “Mom”.  She lost a few children through miscarriages  and was widowed with six children at 50. Even with that, talking about Jesus, what He did for her and His wonders to anyone she was around came so naturally. Right up to the time she was at the brink of leaving this place, she continued to profess His mercies and goodness!

 Ethan was a vibrant,  godly young man and promising baseball player when he was stricken with cancer.  After fighting for about 4 years, his once healthy body gave in to the disease and the Lord called him Home. He left behind grandparents, parents, two little brothers, a sister and many friends. He had genuine faith, an incredibly mature outlook and strength for which he gave God the glory. My sister, Rita, was married with four wonderful boys, three  precious daughter-in-laws and grandchildren.  She graduated from the University of Alabama and practiced as a nurse for many years.  She was absolutely one of the smartest people I ever had the pleasure to know.  Not only was she intelligent, but wise.  She had common sense and was someone to call when advice was needed on, well, anything! What a sense of humor!  Her voice carried and her laughter was contagious!  Then there was her loud “Roll Tide”! That battle cry echoed through the house on game day! We were out of touch for a while, but I thank God that not long before she  was summoned by the Savior to her eternal Home, we exchanged some e mails with one another (I still have saved in my “in” box) that I treasure!

As I mentioned yesterday, my precious cousin, Cindy, is ill.  I regret that I have only learned more about what a  loving woman of God she is through Facebook. What a stunning beauty she is!  I love seeing the pictures of her and her sister, Holly , her Mom, Wally,  her daughter, sons, husband and grandchildren.  It is clear in the photos how dear and special her family and friends are as she has such an amazing glow.  I so enjoy looking through her pictures because they give a small glimpse into the lovely, gentle and kind person she is.  Cindy is clearly a dear godly woman who loves and is deeply treasured by her family and friends.

 When I looked through photos of Mom, Ethan, Rita and Cindy, either healthy or not, I am astonished at some similarities.  Each has an AMAZING smile, ignited by the peace of the Holy Spirit and hope in the Lord twinkles in their eyes.

Jesus is our Hope, THE Great Healer.  Health WILL BE RESTORED, not always on earth, but most certainly in eternity!

Believers do not pass away defeated by disease or anything of this world. Through the Power of Christ, the sick are made whole.  When the Father beckons us Home, it is time to go.  He Alone determines when we shed this earthly body, then adorns us with one appropriate for Paradise!

Boldness and confidence is displayed in the lives all four of these brave soldiers. Their testimonies define perseverance. Lives lived, testifying Philippians 1:21For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

PRAYER

PRECIOUS LORD

 Thank You, Jesus, for coming to this earth

Living among sinners

Dying for our sins

So we may not only escape

The penalty of Hell

But enjoy Paradise

You are preparing for those who believe in You

Thank You for rising again and proving Your power and authority over life and death

We give You praise that we do not have to say “goodbye” to those we love who are Christians

That we have hope in and through You

We will be united one day with You, our King

And with all those Believers who have gone before us

Our hope

Strength

Faith

And Joy is in You

Be magnified, Almighty King

In the Powerful Name of Jesus

AMEN

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
