DEVOTIONAL: Father Knows Best

Jeremiah 29:11-13

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Okay, I KNOW the Word of God is TRUTH!  I tell you, though, when life just gets frustrating, I far too often lose sight of the essential fact that our Lord is ALWAYS in control!
Today, I intended on writing about our new class of  youngsters in swimming. I was working with this blasted laptop not wanting to cooperate and with my door opened so the nice Summer air could fill the house, I’ve heard some goofball outside making the most annoying noise, sounding like those little firecracker poppers, every few seconds for the past 15 minutes. Perhaps I should look at all of this as maybe not the hindrances I noticed, but God’s direction to His particular verse in Jeremiah!

I could get up and shut the door, but I would have to turn on the light so I wouldn’t trip over my dog, turn on the air conditioning so the house would not get stuffy and hope that I didn’t accidentally press “send” as I have way too many times, before the devotional is finished!
Sadly, I even had an attitude with the Lord, explaining that I was trying to do something I thought He wants me to do, so why then, had He allow the task so difficult.  He quickly brought to mind the verse in Jeremiah.

The Lord’s plans and ours are so far apart sometimes, guess which I perfect and right, not yours or even my own. Being the youngest of six, my ideas were scarcely considered.  As an adult, I would determine MY  plans and bring them to fruition!

That stubbornness has caused more strife than I care to admit! Once I recognize that it is the Lord Who ordains my day and it is the Creator Who sets my feet on the path He wants me to follow, I understand and appreciate His perfect will for my life. From the smallest detail to the most spectacular events I will ever experience, is all under His righteous command.

The enemy wants to unravel, to entangle us in our own self-pity and selfish pursuits.  Our pride and ego grasps at a reward he cannot fulfill.  Our only true and certain investment should be our obedience to the Lord and yielding to His will.

PRAYER

Our Heavenly Father

Please forgive us when we want our own way

Remind us that Your Way is right and perfect

You knit us together in our mother’s womb

From before we were who we are, You knew us

Every mistake we would make

Every wrong decision

You foreknew and in Your wisdom

Created us anyway

We give You praise, God

For the blessing You Are

For the birth, death and resurrection of our Savior

Thank You that You are unchanging

That Your Word is Truth

Please give us wisdom to seek and follow Your will

Glory  be to You forever and ever

In the Name of Jesus

Amen

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
