Revelation 21: 16And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
This weekend, our children and grandchild, all headed to our house for my mother-in-law’s 90th birthday.
Our son came in Thursday, driving his 2.5 hours from school. Our son-in-law had Army Reserve duty, so Our daughter and grandchild left Friday morning , traveling 4 1/2 hours and Our oldest started her 9 1/2 journey early Friday by herself.
Saturday was one of those days that were eventful, yet not so much. We mostly spent a great deal of time fellowshipping with one another, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives from Oklahoma we had never met and of course, grandmother.
There was talking, laughing, picture-taking and a substantial amount of grazing! I don’t know how many Chick-fil-A nuggets I had, or pieces of fruit with tremendous yogurt dip I had, but none of us left hungry!
We arrived at the party a bit before Noon and did not leave until after 10 with a 35 minute drive ahead of us back to our place.
Wiped out, I believe everyone slept pretty well (our granddaughter an I actually got a nap up in my sister-in-law’s room during the party). Our daughter called me from the suite and said that “Oma” was being requested (which I found hard to believe since I am a bit militant about naps). I did go up there and as soon as momma left, baby girl and I zonked out for about an hour and a half!
Yesterday our babies had to hit the road back to reality! The girls had to work today and today was Our son’s first Fall semester class. We all ate lunch together and each one headed toward their destination as we drove the 10 minutes back to our house.
Whether we are just starting out on our journey, facing rain or traffic, road construction or whatever it may be, we know as Christians that whatever the obstacles, arrival HOME will make it all worthwhile!
Prayer
Magnificent Father
Lord and
King of kings
Thank You for the protection, provision and perseverance You
Give us to face every moment of the day
Until we are with You
Thank You that we do not have to wonder or worry if
You are going to be there beside us
Isaiah 41:10 says Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
When the journey seems so long and daunting ahead, we rest in Your sweet promises
As Isaiah 41:28-31 tells us
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
You, Master
Are our Strength and Sustainer
Praise You for the Journey of Life
And the Reward of our Eternal Home!
In the Precious Blood of Jesus we pray
Amen
