Devotional: FORECAST: Concentrated heavy showers of COMPLAINTS and GRUMBLING throughout the day and evening. Heavy downpours at times. Flooding potential. Please seek SHELTER during strong storms. It is advised to avoid heading into affected areas whenever possible. Stay tuned in to God’s Word for instruction regarding appropriate action.

Proverbs 27:15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

This weekend, Jonathan and I had a failure to communicate, let’s just say.

There were things I wanted to do specifically Saturday, but we ended up going to my mother-in-law’s house and staying until the places I wanted to go were closed. I fussed because I tried to explain to Jonathan that those places wouldn’t be opened on Mondays but he insisted they would be.

Skipping ahead to Monday, we went out and sure enough, everywhere I wanted to go Saturday was closed. What did I tell him! Did I have a bad attitude, you bet! Did I repeatedly remind Jonathan that I was right about it or gloat, even when he said he was wrong, of course. Nothing he did or said helped the situation or changed my outlook.

Last night I was convicted and had to apologize for being so grumpy. Today I was sent to these particular segments of Scripture to use for this devotional. The words of God, although beautiful and true, are so convicting!

I hope each and every one of you will take into consideration and choose words carefully BEFORE they’re said, not as they’re dripping from your lips like poisonous, venomous weapons of mass destruction. Yes, I am looking in the spiritual mirror as I say this, quite disappointed at the reflection.

When we are wrong, we need to do more than acknowledge it, we need to seek forgiveness. Abandon ego and pursue a humble spirit. I know if I were on the side of listening to grumbling and complaining, blame, I would not be so anxious to forgive. Whatever side of the conversation we find ourselves, let’s seek or extend forgiveness. By and by, are we only called to forgive if the offender asks, we know the answer to that one!

PRAYER

Father God

Thank You for this beautiful day

Lord, please forgive us when we grumble and complain

Please put thanksgiving in our heart

And let us show our appreciation through our words and actions

Lord, You call, as much as it depends on us, to live at peace with one another

Please move us out of the way and let Your indwelling be such in each one

Whenever anyone is around us, Your Sweet Spirit, not our selfish attitudes will shine through

Thank You for our many blessings!

 In Jesus’ Name

Amen

About voicevessel bwc

First, and most importantly, I love Jesus Christ and I trust in Him as my Lord and Savior. I was raised in a Christian home by a godly dad and mom (who planned and had me in July before turning 42 in August), and 5 older siblings. My father passed away when I was 7 and my mother (who went to be with the Lord in 2005 at 81) never remarried. As a child, I was bullied at school, so I did not have many friends. I didn't want to tell my mom this because I knew she had enough worry being a widow at 50. I know what it is like to be lonely. As an adult, God showed me the value of His Friendship and has blessed me, too, with rich relationships with dear friends who also love the Lord. My husband and I (married 31 years as of 2020), have three wonderful, adult children and son-in-law as well as three darling grandchildren. Along with many others, my husband lost his job, but we refuse to be fearful or angry. The Lord has provided for us and we are so thankful for the opportunity to express gratitude through personal contact and occasional memories I share through writing. I believe the Lord has given me a venue to engage with others and a means to share His Word. Thank you for checking out my page. I hope you enjoy what you read. If there is anything positive or insightful in the devotionals (NOT CALLING MY WRITING "INSPIRED" by any means!), I give all credit and glory to Jesus Christ! On the other side of that, when something makes no sense, that's all me
