Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart deviseth his way; but the Lord directeth his steps.
James 4:13 -15
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Please keep in prayer, those in this group, leaders of home, church and country, situations, both local and global. Also for the protection of children (of all ages), in schools and universities, parents and staff.
Clearly the churches need prayer as well, for times such as these, when anyone can walk in from the street, into places of worship and take lives.
In our hearts we know the TRUTH in Proverbs 19:21, whatever befalls children of God, There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
As we start out 2020, how many resolutions do you think have been made and what percentage of those have already been broken?
We have in our minds and hearts what we want or even need to do differently or better. We may have trips planned, more “date nights” or hosts of other well-meaning intentions.
Maybe we signed up for a gym membership over the holidays, or vowed to eat healthier this year, whatever it may be, let’s keep these Scriptures in mind.
Too often before, when I found myself already not keeping with what I had determined to change, I usually allowed for a few scenarios: Just go ahead and wait until another milestone, like my birthday, THEN get serious about my goals (allowing myself several months of staying with my old routine) or sometimes just giving up on whatever it was altogether! I “blew it”, right?
Maybe once or twice I thought I would just start the next day or even from that point, forgiving myself, letting go and moving on from there. That didn’t last either. I allowed discouragement and disgust to set in like a bad stain until I couldn’t seem to get rid of that ugly lie of defeat!
God does not set us up for failure. What He leads us to do, He prepares us for and gives us what we need for whatever He calls as our purpose. When the Lord is the Source of our plans, we may still struggle, trying to go about it our own way, but if we obey His Will, It is going to be accomplished.
But what about those who “succeed” and have never trusted in the Lord or even deny and mock Him? The world has its own way of making things look or seem a certain way, but we know that money, popularity, large houses, none of that is actual “success”. Wouldn’t you say that a truly accomplished life is one lived in obedience to The Father, one glorious day, hearing Him tell us “Well done”, as we have kept our hearts and minds focused on Jesus Christ and doing the Will of our Creator, rather than seeking approval of man
