Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Isaiah 40:31
For they that wait upon the Lord shall renew strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
One of my daughters drove me absolutely crazy when the family went to eat at a buffet. She piled her dish a mile high with just about everything, only eating a small bite of a few. After shuffling things around, she pushed that serving away and headed back to do the same thing. On her own, she showed an unwillingness to pace herself. Her actions may have taken away from someone else who may have actually wanted something that she carelessly discarded.
Do you know someone (or are you that person), who has a full plate, yet does whatever it takes to work in a few more projects?
As in a human body, the Body of Christ has many parts. Although some may seem more essential than others. Yes, there are body parts we can live and learn to function without, but when they are there and viable, why not put them to good use, rather than simply setting them aside as obsolete and insignificant?
There are people in the church who always are willing to step up and step in for any task, which is sweet and thoughtful; however, God may be calling upon someone specifically to fill a spot, and there are a few scenarios where God’s intention was ignored.
Now this doesn’t have to mean deliberate disobedience, but it does come from running ahead of, or falling behind God’s Will by not prayerfully considering where each person belongs.
The Lord created us for a specific calling. Seek His Will for your life. Find where He wants you to be. How you can serve Him and testify to His greatness to those who come in contact with you?
Finally, wherever you are, for however long He has you somewhere, be content, knowing that it is so much more a blessing to face trials where God has put us, than to experience comfort anywhere else.
Consider this: If you take on what the Lord has not given you to do, you may pass up your calling on the way.
Lord God
Thank You for this day
Please lead us to the road You have forged for us
Show us the path You intend for us to take
What we should do with the resources and skills You’ve given us
Where we are to go and how You want us to get there
Please keep us focused on You
And on how we can serve You, Lord
Let us please be a light in this dark world
Willing to follow wherever You lead
In the Name of Jesus
Amen
