Matthew 6:12Give us this day our daily bread
Exodus 16:15And when the Children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat
Deuteronomy 29:5And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her Firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
How many times do we grab a snack or take a warm shower, without a second thought. Certainly we appreciate it, but do we acknowledge that our Lord is supplying our needs, from the most basic matters of life, to the most substantial, like our health and lodging?
When we open our cupboard (if we’ve recently been shopping), do we not expect to find what we want? What about the shower, isn’t it just pretty much taken for granted that warm water will flow from the faucet? In our closet there are a number of shirts, pants and shoes to select.
Our Lord, our Creator, provides for us in abundance! The times we seem to notice are when things we once had are not working, there’s no access or for whatever reason, not available. At that point, what do we want to do? Pray for the Lord’s Mercy, and for Him to restore what we find lacking? Have we prayed to thank Him when we had whatever it was?
Let’s turn our hearts to be aware of God’s blessing and great provision for our “daily bread”. I pray to God, none of us know homelessness or hunger, but if that ever comes to pass, know that our Loving Father is there to provide for His children.
ALMIGHTY GOD
Thank you for this day
Please forgive our sins against You, others and ourselves
Thank You for the many provisions
We recognize You as our Mighty Provider
We appreciate every one of our blessings
Please draw our attention to those we overlook or do not recognize
You showed us that even Your Own Son was provided a bed
Although there were more comfortable surroundings
You certainly could have lavished Him with every earthly comfort
You showed us, Father, that You ARE SUFFICIENT to meet all needs.
In the Name of Jesus
AMEN
